Building on the success of 2023, the event will be returning as a two day event. Speaking about the forthcoming dates, committee member Jonathan Fitter-Harding says “It was great to welcome so many more people to the park by running over a whole weekend. We were so pleased with the turnout and can’t wait to build and grow on this next year.”

  • Pride Canterbury is back and bigger than ever!

Kent’s largest Pride celebration launches its first 2-day event. Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th June at Dane John Gardens, Canterbury.

Pride Canterbury returns to the Dane John Gardens for a massive two-day spectacular on Saturday 10th June and Sunday 11th June, 2023.

The line-up will feature an incredible selection of chart acts past and present including Liberty X and Caity Baser. West End theatre star Layton Williams will be taking to the main stage, and international Drag Performers Danny Beard and Baga Chipz from RuPaul's Drag Race will be adding their own unique style to the Dane John Gardens. Tribute acts and vibrant local talent complete the huge celebration of over 100 artists taking part across the weekend.

For the first time the event will use the Watling Street and Castle Row car parks to provide much needed additional space for food and drink vendors, a new stage for DJs and improved accessibility options at the event. Sponsorship Director Jonathan Fitter-Harding commented “We are catering to a much more mixed audience now, so after listening to feedback we are introducing a family area, wellbeing area, and places to sit and chill a little away from the crowds if that’s what you prefer.”

Although the event is still free to attend, this year includes a new Pride ‘VFP’ (Very Fabulous Person) upgrade, which will cost £20 and allow queue jump entry and drink, just to make the event feel a little more special to those that want it. The proceeds of the VFP passes will go towards funding the event.

The event continuing to be free to attend is something the team is very proud of, and this is principally driven by support from local businesses. Speaking about the funding of the event, Jonathan Fitter-Harding continued “We simply wouldn’t be able to put on such a fantastic Pride event without our generous sponsors. We have around 60 sponsors this year that are helping bring this event to life. Our co-headline sponsors Jenner Contractors and Hyde Homes, have worked with us for a number of years now and we’re so pleased they see the value in supporting Pride Canterbury.”

The event takes place in the Dane John Gardens on June 10th and 11th 2023. You can find out more information at the pridecanterbury.com.

  • Pride Canterbury returns to the Dane John Gardens for a massive two day event on Saturday 10th June and Sunday 11th June 2023.

The line up will feature an incredible selection of chart acts, West End theatre stars, local and international Drag Performers, tribute acts and vibrant local talent.

For the first time, the event will span a whole weekend and have a bigger site than ever before - taking over the Watling Street and Castle Row car parks to provide additional food and drink vendors and a new stage for DJs. The event will still be free to attend. Speaking about the growth of the event, Sponsorship Director Jonathan-Fitter Harding says “I’m so excited that more people will be able to join us in celebrating how diverse our City is. We always receive feedback that Pride is over too quickly, having the event over two days, along with a larger site footprint will allow even more people to celebrate Pride”.

Taking to the stage across the blockbuster weekend will be the winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 4, Danny Beard, bringing his signature big belt vocals to Canterbury. Joining him will be fellow Season 4 contestant Le Fil and some other top International Drag Talent which will be announced soon.

Returning to Pride is much loved Drag Race finalist Baga Chipz, a multi-talented performer who has become a staple on the London and National LGBTQ+ scene.

Pop sensations Liberty X will be bringing ‘Just A Little’ of their back catalogue to the Dane John Gardens, and Britain’s Got Talent Champion of Champions winners Twist and Pulse will be dancing their way across the main stage with their signature brand of choreography and comedy. Upcoming artist Caity Baser is already receiving huge support for her music and collaboration on the new single from Sigala, and will be bringing her own unique brand of pop to Pride.

Star of stage and screen Layton Williams will be dropping in for an electrifying set, fresh from Everybody’s Talking About Jamie and Bad Education, Layton’s vibrant personality is sure to be a huge highlight. Direct from starring in &Juliet, powerhouse vocalist Miriam Teak-Lee will also be giving audiences a taste of her stunning vocals.

This year's after-party will be hosted by the LGBTQ+ brand Glitterbomb and feature none other than Reality TV Royalty and Queen of Clean Kim Woodburn in what is sure to be a night to remember.

Speaking about the event this year, Entertainment Director Stephen Sullivan says “This is without question our best line up of performers ever. Being able to put together so many superstars alongside some incredible local talent is a real privilege. There will be something for everyone across the two days. I can’t wait to see everyone in the Dane John Gardens being their true authentic selves”.

This year will also see the introduction of the Pride VFP (Very Fabulous Person) ticket for £20, which includes Q-Jump into the event through a dedicated entrance and other perks. Although the event is still completely free to attend, this will be a way for those who are able to directly contribute to Pride while also receiving some exclusive benefits. Those who want to find out more can visit www.pridecanterbury.com.

As if all of this wasn’t enough, Pride will also be broadcasting live from the Main Stage across Kent with Rob Wills as he hosts Floorfiller Anthems straight from Pride Canterbury to the whole of Kent on KMFM.
